Environmental Remediation Duxbury Projects have successfully completed the management of a major environmental remediation project. The project involved decommissioning and disposing of redundant chemical process lines, disposing of concentrated process chemicals, including; strong acids, alkalis and metals, (cadmium, chromium, zinc, copper, etc.), and toxic chemicals including cyanide. On completion of process plant and equipment, the project involved the removal of some 3,000 tonnes of contaminated soils and clay from below the floor, demolishing adjacent annex buildings, whilst maintaining the integrity of the main building. In places the excavations extended in excess of 3 metres deep. Following receipt of laboratory approval that the ground was clear of contamination, the excavated floor was in-filled and the floor re-layed. The walls, stanchions, roof trusses and roof sheets were also all de-contaminated by a combination of shot blasting and jet washing. On completion of the environmental remediation, Duxbury Projects subsequently completed the project management of the building refurbishment, i.e., design and installation of the electrical services, mechanical services, construction works, decoration and the installation of production plant and equipment. Throughout the remediation process, the Clients production operations in adjacent buildings had to be maintained at all times. In total the project value was in the order of £ 1.8 million and was successfully completed to the Clients demanding schedule.
